Additional Information For Parents

As parents and guardians we need to remember that our teens will be influenced by our driving habits. Driving at a safe speed, practicing defensive driving habits, and keeping a safe following distance are some of the most important ways to avoid being in a collision.  Driving in this manner and teaching our teens to drive in this manner will help avoid collisions. To further assist parents in keeping their teens safe while driving, the following websites are excellent sources of information:

  1. http://saferdrivingforteens.org This site is provided by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI). It shows what parents can do to make their teen a safer driver and offers a variety of resources such as instructional and informational videos, the Michigan GDL law, and legislative updates.

  2. Parents may also go to "Teen Driving" on the Reader's Digest website.
